Cummins has launched a new 15-litre diesel engine for the off-highway market at Intermat 2024. The Next Generation X15 diesel engine is reliable and reduces operating costs while also reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency.

The new X15 is part of the Cummins HELM platform, which offers buyers the ability to select the fuel type that best suits their needs. A common base engine design has cylinder heads and fuel systems specifically designed for a single fuel: advanced diesel, natural gas, or hydrogen.

"We are excited to present the Next Gen X15 at Intermat. It is a state-of-the-art clean sheet engine designed with more capability and less environmental impact," said Beau Lintereur, Executive Director Off Highway at Cummins. "The Cummins X15 offers fantastic power density for high duty cycle applications, meaning it can displace larger comparative engines, reducing operating costs and overall emissions from equipment in-field. We look forward to discussing the benefits of this next-generation engine technology with customers."

The Next Generation X15 for off-highway use offers ratings up to 700 horsepower and a peak torque of 2,360 ft.-lb. It is targeted to meet Stage V emissions regulations. Fuel consumption is optimized, reducing total cost of ownership and lifetime CO2 emissions. Extended maintenance intervals of up to 1,000 hours reduce service costs and downtime.

Cummins is also displaying its B6.7H engine, a hydrogen platform for a range of off-highway applications, at Intermat. The unit has a top rating of 290 hp and peak torque of 885 ft.-lb. The hydrogen combustion engine is designed to use the same transmission, cooling systems, and hydraulic systems as today's diesel engines, reducing complexity for equipment manufacturers and their customers wanting to switch to hydrogen fuel solutions.

Accelera by Cummins is also sharing several products, as part of Cummins' Destination Zero strategy. An innovative fuel cell engine is suited for mobile construction applications with heavy-duty cycles, or for clean portable power generation. Also part of Accelera's zero-emissions design is the next-generation BP97E battery, designed for electrified vehicle applications with exceptional energy density.

The 1CS2016 NextGen motor is a single-winding permanent synchronous magnet direct drive motor that is efficient and designed specifically for high-performance traction motors.
