Volvo B-series has new cab and choice of controls
Volvo Construction Equipment’s B-Series of skid steer loaders have operating capacities from 1,350 pounds (612 kg) to 2,250 pounds (1020 kg) and engine power from 45 net hp (36.9 kW) to 81 net hp (64 kW). The operator has a choice of foot-and-hand mechanical controls or hand-operated hydraulic pilot controls. The latter uses dual joysticks to activate all loader functions with the right hand and control all drive functions with the left. Electro-proportional auxiliary hydraulics and a foot throttle are also standard on pilot control machines to increase operational precision. All operator controls are designed for low-effort, high efficiency and minimal fatigue.

A new seat bar provides an ergonomic armrest, and control lever positions fall naturally to hand, creating improved ef-ficiency and reducing fatigue. The all-new operator cab is available in open canopy or enclosed cab configura-tions. Both feature ROPS (roll-over protection) and FOPS (falling objects protection) safety engineering. The ROPS rating of 11,900 pounds (5,400 kg) allows operators to utilize the largest attachments with confidence. Larger front and rear openings and windows improve visibility forward, to the rear and sides, and above to provide a better view of the attachment when loading trucks. Isolation mounts reduce vibration and noise to the operator. A variety of seat options is available, including a suspension seat and a high-back deluxe cushion seat. The enclosed cab will be available either with a heater or heater/air conditioner. The B-Series skid steer loader has a universal quick attach system that can be used with nearly all skid steer loader attachments available today, and it has flat-faced hydraulic couplers for easy connection and a tight seal. The new Volvo B-Series skid steer loader design also includes a number of structural upgrades. The addition of a rear counterweight helps protect the rear door and improves weight distribution for smoother operation on site. Loader arms have been engineered using the latest computer analysis techniques to reduce stress points and increase life. Volvo buckets have also been upgraded to provide a better bucket-to-machine match for improved breakout force and dump angles.
