ASV’s ST-50 rubber tracked utility vehicle supersedes the former 50 horsepower (37.3 kW) Scout SC-50, which was originally introduced in 2006. The 50-hp ST-50’s suspended undercarriage gives it the traction and the flotation to go just about anywhere, and with four torsion axels suspending the undercarriage, the ride is exceptionally smooth for a tracked machine. The undercarriage on these units uses 24 rubber idler wheels that spread the machine’s weight over the entire length and width of its tracks. As a result, the machine’s 4,562 pounds (2,069 kg) operating weight is distributed down to only 2.38 pounds per square inch (16.4 kPa) of ground pressure – about half the ground pressure of a person on foot.
