Erosion control made from recycled carpet
GeoHay is an environmentally friendly line of erosion control products made from recycled carpet fibres. This product is designed for easy installation using pre-cut stake holes, is reusable, and is proven to be an effective filter that allows water to pass while removing dirt and debris.
A wide range of GeoHay products are available. GeoBales come in 15-inch and 12-inch diameters (12-inch GeoBales come in lengths of 45 and 90 inches), and GeoFilters and GeoWattles come in two foot increments from 4 to 16 feet. GeoDitch is designed to conform to a ditch or special contour area using a thin metal strip which can be molded to contour, and GeoDrain comes with a perforated pipe wrapped in airlay material. GeoDrain can be used in septic system or in french drain applications, and is designed to eliminate the need for rock, sand or other filler. Users just connect pipes and cover. GeoMat is also available, and serves several purposes which include lining a golf course sand trap, covering a ditch drain for double filtration, and the product can be used as a cover for temporary movement of dirt. Recently, TRI/Environmental, Inc. of Austin, Texas completed testing of four configurations of GeoHay in comparison with major competitor’s products. Results from “testing procedure number ASTM D 5141” clearly indicated that GeoHay products significantly outperform the other major erosion control products where it counts in filter efficiency and turbidity reduction.
