A suite of Web-based software products aimed at helping municipalities and similar organizations manage their infrastructure and physical assets has been expanded for 2009.
The VueWorks 2009 suite of products was revamped and relaunched with the ability to integrate with ESRI GIS software, allowing users to run the Web-based VueWorks platform and integrate with their GIS files hosted on their own server.
“We peacefully coexist with your ESRI software, and point to where the data files are... we can use the attribution in the GIS files, and link to those files on the user’s servers so they can query them and set up service calls easily,” related Alex von Svoboda, vice president of sales and marketing for VueWorks. “Anyone with a Microsoft Internet Explorer product can connect. One license covers five concurrent users.” The company also has a new module, one of several available, for facilities management. Users wanting to manage facilities can attach GIS data on such assets as pumps, motors, or generators to track their condition and maintenance; fleets and structures can also be included, allowing a municipality to monitor just about any type of asset. Maintenance management can be included, and work continues to link VueWorks products into municipal 311 systems allowing reports of necessary maintenance to be moved through to work orders quickly and effectively.
Users can start with the Core module and add others depending on their budget and needs. The range of products offers an easy way to get into strategic management, Von Svoboda said.
