Software helps reduce completion time in oil sands

AMEC, the global supplier of consulting, engineering and project management services to the energy, power and process industries, has expanded its use of Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise design and engineering software for its Canadian oil sands projects. Specifically, the company has added Intergraph’s SmartPlant Foundation solution to manage engineering information for its large CAPEX projects.  

With the Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise solutions for design, instrumentation, P & ID, electrical distribution design and modelling review, AMEC says they are looking forward to increased productivity and an ability to accelerate projects due to assurance of integrity of engineering data and increased worksharing collaboration.

SmartPlant Foundation is the document and data management solution within SmartPlant Enterprise. Enterprise is the integrated solutions suite that provides full design, construction, materials and engineering data management capabilities needed for the creation, safe operation and maintenance, as well as capital project life cycle management, of large-scale process and power projects. The software’s life cycle data management also enables a smoother handover for EPCs to owner operators, and allows owner operators to more easily maintain, refurbish or modify their plants.
