Boasting a maximum payload capacity of 27.5 tons, a heaped capacity of 20.3 cubic yard and a 365-hp engine with a high-capacity cooling system designed especially for hauler applications, the new Terex TA250 is engineered to be productive in the most extreme working conditions, from arctic to desert environments. Joining the popular TA300 and TA400 models already available in the North American market, the TA250 is well suited for diverse applications such as quarrying, mining, construction and road maintenance.
“The combination of this truck’s horsepower, body capacity and payload result in class-leading performance and productivity,” says Ken Emmett, product manager, Terex Construction Americas. “And, the truck’s state-of-the art operator’s cab enhances operator’s comfort and reduces fatigue during long days on the job. The TA250 offers customers an exceptional cost-to-value ratio.”
The Terex TA250 articulated truck boasts a high power-to-weight ratio with its turbocharged, Tier-3 compliant Cummins engine, a ZF fully automatic transmission with manual override and a maximum torque of 1,234 ft-lb at 1,400 rpm at 104,068-lbs operating weight. With six forward and three reverse gears, this truck can travel to speeds of 31 mph. The TA250’s three axles are in permanent all-wheel drive (6x6) and are equipped with 100 percent cross-axle lockup, enabling TA250 operators to easily traverse the challenging grades and work in demanding site conditions.
The TA250 is the only truck in its size class equipped with wet disc brakes on all six wheels, and it comes standard with an engine brake retarder. In comparison to traditional dry-disc brake systems standard on competitive models, the Terex truck’s braking system provides extended brake component life, reduced service intervals and operating costs, as well as improved overall braking performance.
The ergonomically designed cab provides operators comfort and control all day long — the control positions and instrument groupings have been placed according to operator feedback and the TA250 comes standard with hydrostatic power steering, air conditioning, a high-quality sound system and strategically placed mirrors.
Maintenance is simple on all Terex articulated trucks, including the TA250. From the wide opening angle of the hood to ground level access to the major components, every consideration has been given to servicing these trucks. Mechanics can easily complete under-hood service thanks to the wide platforms on both sides of the engine.
