Volvo’s latest high reach demolition excavators, the EC380DHR and EC480DHR, are designed to provide versatility on demolition job sites. Units feature 21 m (69-foot, 2-inch) reach and 27 m (89-foot, 9-inch) reach respectively, can be fitted with high reach and standard digging boom configurations, and feature the ability to switch equipment in as little as 30 minutes.
Demolition options are ‘bolt-on’ and standard features include extensive guarding of cylinder and swing ring protection, tracks, undercarriage, and a frame-mounted falling object guard. Other standard features include micro-mesh screens on doors and the engine cowl; double thickness side doors; bolt-on side impact protection; total moment indicator (TMI) system, which detects if the machine is under overload; a hydraulically retractable undercarriage with cylindrical design for better stability during work and for ease of transport; and a front view camera on the high reach demolition boom with a large 7-inch monitor for greater visibility and safety.
Units also include new styling and operator comfort enhancements, and are equipped with a Volvo D13 Tier 4i engine for lower emissions and increased horsepower and engine torque. Additionally, Volvo’s telematics system, CareTrack, comes as standard for three years.
