Central Mix concrete batch plants are fast becoming a requirement for most concrete paving jobs throughout the United States. When a Wisconsin-based producer of ready mix concrete needed a portable central mix batch plant to supply their growing business and meet the new state DOT regulations, they turned to RexCon for a central mix batch plant.
For a fraction of the cost of a bigger batch plant, the producer placed a new Mobile 5 Central Mix plant into service. Their 5 yard batch plant enabled them to supply concrete for projects which require the quality and consistency only found in central mix concrete plants.
This wet batch plant also featured a newly designed 5 Cubic Yard Tilt Mixer which was first unveiled at the 2013 World of Concrete. This mixer is based on the original Rex mixer design, known worldwide for its single pivot simplicity and mixer efficiency. The new tilt design of the mixer increases dump height and lowers the overall plant elevation, while retaining the low-maintenance and operationally efficient single pivot tilt.
RexCon customized the Mobile 5 to include an additional auxiliary silo for a second cementitious material, aggregate bin extensions for greater storage, a high-volume, low-pressure aeration blower for better cement flow, and a polyurethane-lined dump cone with outboard supports to load truck mixers.
By installing a 5 yard central mix plant instead of a larger plant, a concrete producer can recoup its investment more quickly than had it purchased a larger plant due to the new mixer's power efficiency and lower up-front price.
A smaller up-front investment coupled with more efficient power consumption means that the plant owner is able to achieve higher profitability on every load of concrete that goes through the plant. And by having a highly portable central mix plant in its arsenal with the capability to mobilize on-site, the plant owner can bid on jobs that they otherwise would've passed on or would've supplied from a facility farther away.
