Hitachi Construction Truck Manufacturing plans expansion in Guelph, Ontario

Hitachi Construction Truck Manufacturing Ltd. is planning a $32-million expansion at its Guelph operation, Rob O’Flannagan reported in The Guelph Mercury newspaper. He said that “Hitachi has plans to add two more manufacturing bays to its Woodlawn Road West plant in the immediate future, and to more than double its current workforce of approximately 400.”

The current production of 150 vehicles is expected to increase to 280 a year. This is to satisfy increased worldwide demand for the large construction and mining trucks, and to make up for the loss of manufacturing in Japan due to last year’s earthquake.
