CASE Beefs Up Operating Capacities, Introduces New SR240 and SV280 Tier 4 Final Skid Steers
CASE Construction Equipment has introduced the new SR240 and SV280 Tier 4 Final skid steers – two new machines that feature CASE’s maintenance-free particulate matter catalyst solution. Both machines represent new models in the CASE lineup that provide increased rated operating capacities while still delivering performance benefits associated with much of the CASE Alpha Series line of skid steers, including best-in-class 360-degree visibility, breakout force, torque and auxiliary hydraulics.
“The industry continues to trend towards machines with higher rated operating capacities, but not all customers need the super high-end operating ranges,” says Warren Anderson, brand marketing manager, CASE Construction Equipment. “We took two of our most popular size classes and lift styles – made them Tier 4 Final – and through improvements in lift cylinders, hydraulics and machine design were able to substantially increase operating capacities.”
Rated at 74 horsepower, these large-frame models deliver a best-in-class torque of 232 foot-pounds, a bucket breakout force of up to 8,680 pounds, and standard hydraulics (24.2 gallons-per-minute (gpm)) and high-flow auxiliary (33.2 gpm) for excellent power and attachment versatility. Weighing in at 7,400 pounds, the SR240 is an excellent all-purpose skid steer that offers a rated operating capacity (ROC) of 2,400 pounds, while the new 8,090-pound SV280 offers an ROC of 2,800 pounds.
Maintenance-Free Tier 4 Final
The Tier 4 Final solution featured on both machines is entirely maintenance free, with no filters to maintain or fluids to add. CASE’s particulate matter catalyst is a combination of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a high-efficiency flow-through filter. The DOC oxidizes the machine’s exhaust to create heat and manage emissions. The remaining particulate matter then passes through to the filter where it is slowed and burned.
“These size classes represent large portions of the skid steer market,” says Anderson. “Engineering a truly maintenance-free Tier 4 Final solution into these machines removes all complexity, cost, effort and downtime associated with solutions that rely on diesel particulate filters (DPFs).”
Best-in-Class 360-Degree Visibility
CASE continues to lead the skid steer market in 360-degree visibility with a cab-forward design, skylight and ultra-narrow wide side screens. The machine features the industry’s lowest entry threshold, which also helps improve visibility down to the bucket and attachment. Both models also feature CASE’s distinctive large and curved rear window for excellent visibility to the rear of the machine – all working together to give the operator a comprehensive view of the jobsite as they work. They also feature industry-exclusive standard heavy-duty front and side lighting for working in night and twilight applications.
EZ-EH Controls Allow Flexibility
The SR240 and SV280 offer an EZ-EH (electro-hydraulic) setup menu with nine adjustable speed and control sensitivity settings that can be adjusted on the fly. This allows the operator to match controls to their preference for comfort and greater productivity. A single rocker switch alternates between the CASE “H” operating pattern and ISO pattern controls for operators who are comfortable with one style or the other. New operator handles with industry-exclusive detents improve controllability and feathering by providing greater responsiveness to the actions/movement of the machine.
Greater Stability with a Smoother Ride
The CASE PowerStance wheelbase provides excellent curb clearance and greater stability during lifting and hauling, which helps retain more material in the bucket. That stability also improves operator confidence when working on varied terrain. Additional counterweights can further improve stability and performance while also increasing the rated operating capacity by 100 pounds. CASE Ride Control™ and two-speed travel further help improve material retention, while Ride Control can also improve operator comfort in load-and-carry applications.
Comfort for the Operator
The SR240 and SV280 offer the widest cab in the industry – fully sealed and pressurized against noise, dust and fumes. The lowest step and entry threshold in the industry makes it easy for the operator to get in and out of the cab. The machine also features an optional radio and upgraded climate controls for optimal comfort.
Maintenance Made Easy
Routine service points are all located at the rear of each machine, so operators can quickly access the engine, filters and fill points. Both machines feature CASE’s easy-tilt cab for convenient access to the drivetrain compartment. Hydraulic quick couplers allow operators to quickly change attachments from the cab, while Connect Under Pressure (CUP) manifolds require no tools to connect or disconnect hydraulic lines. Both models now come standard with a block heater to ensure operation even in frigid climates. A large 25.5-gallon fuel tank allows the machine to operate for more than an entire shift without refueling.
