Next Generation Link-Belt 210 X4 excavator delivers with 9 percent faster cycle time than its predecessor
LBX Company has announced the Link-Belt 210 X4 excavator for the U.S. and Canada, featuring an electronically controlled 160-hp Isuzu engine that meets EPA Tier 4 Final requirements, without the need for a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The mid-size 210 X4 is easy to transport and nimble enough to take on a variety of tasks, such as excavating foundations, placing pipe, stockpiling overburden, trenching, road building and truck loading.
“The 210 X4 delivers up to 9 percent faster cycle times than its predecessor,” said Nori Kumagai, LBX Product Manager. “This performance increase is largely due to a new proprietary control valve with a 30 percent larger hydraulic passage area. But we didn’t stop there. We increased the size of arm, boom and auxiliary spools to reduce pressure loss and distribute oil more smoothly. Two electrically-controlled Kawasaki variable-displacement axial-piston pumps and one Kawasaki gear pump assure that hydraulic flow gets delivered precisely when and where it’s needed. The end result is more smoothness, maneuverability and precision across all operating modes.”
“All of these performance enhancements don’t compromise fuel efficiency, either. The 210 X4 delivers up to 12 percent improved fuel economy than previous models,” Kumagai continued. “A thrifty 2-3 percent DEF consumption rate, combined with a large DEF tank, means you can work long hours without having to worry about refilling DEF.”
The ROPS and FOPS-certified cab provides improved operator ergonomics and comfort. A large, automotive-grade high-back seat tilts to a 155-degree maximum reclining angle for a relaxed environment during breaks. Arm rests move proportionally with the console, which means that the distance and angle between joysticks and operator remains the same, no matter how the seat is adjusted.
A large, 7-inch LED colour monitor allows the operator to easily navigate a full menu of user-friendly controls to take full command of the excavator and attachments. The standard rear-view camera is accessible through the monitor, displaying a panoramic view of the worksite from the rear of the machine, with sight guidelines that can be turned on or off by the operator. Rear and side lights can also be added to the camera system.
For the ultimate in visibility, the Wide Angle Visual Enhancement System (WAVES) can be added. “WAVES is an exclusive, award-winning feature for Link-Belt X4 excavators,” Kumagai said. “The system is easy to use and includes three closed-circuit, high resolution cameras that provide a seamless 270-degree viewing envelope with no blind spots.”
Servicing is a snap, with convenient, ground-level access to all routine service points, including sample ports for engine and hydraulic oil. All service ports are easily accessed via hand-turn knobs.
RemoteCARE GPS-enabled telematics system allows 24/7 remote monitoring and security.
The 210 X4 features improved boss shaping on boom and arm pins to reduce stress; cast boom tips for improved reliability; and stronger cylinder mounts on booms and arms. Structural improvements on the lowers include an 8 percent thicker travel motor case; 14 percent thicker plating between side frame and travel motor case; 52 percent wider idler hub; and a shape change on side frames for easier cleaning.
