CertainTeed Gypsum introduces QuietRock ES with EZ Snap, bringing cost-effective, user-friendly soundproof gypsum board to the Canadian market
CertainTeed Gypsum is strengthening its product offering in the Canadian market through the introduction of QuietRock ES soundproof gypsum board with EZ-SNAP Technology - the most cost-effective, sound-reducing Type X gypsum board on the market today.
Using new gypsum core technology and a patent-pending manufacturing process that eliminates the extra layer of paper in its core, the board is easier to score and snap than other brands of soundproof drywall, helping boost productivity and lowering installed costs. QuietRock ES is designed for use by professionals and consumers in commercial and residential projects where enhanced acoustical performance is preferred or required. The boards are 5/8-inch thick, Type X fire rated and are designed to install and hang like standard drywall. Manufactured by Serious Materials, QuietRock ES is exclusively available through CertainTeed Gypsum in the Canadian market.
“In growing our portfolio of high-performance products, CertainTeed Gypsum is strategically positioned to meet the evolving needs of the Canadian building industry,” says Graham Thayer, general manager of CertainTeed Gypsum Canada. “The acoustical properties, user-friendly design and affordability of QuietRock ES complement and enhance our existing product offering.”
QuietRock ES delivers acoustical ratings of Sound Transmission Class (STC) 52 when placed on both sides of single wood stud walls. This compares to an STC rating of 39 in a wall assembly using traditional gypsum board materials. QuietRock ES delivers ratings from STC 52-55 on single steel stud construction. This new offering from CertainTeed complements the existing family of QuietRock products which are available with ratings up to STC 80.
“The exceptional acoustical properties of QuietRock ES translate into the use of fewer boards to achieve optimal acoustic performance,” adds Thayer. “Ultimately, this reduces waste and the overall environmental footprint of a construction project.”
