Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. (HMC) revealed its new line of trucks at Truck World in Mississauga, ON. Officially christened the Hino XL Series, this all-new lineup fills out the Hino product offering and expands them into the Class 8 market for the first time. The new Hino XL Series is powered by Hino's legendary A09 turbo diesel 8.9 litre inline 6-cylinder engine boasting a B10 life of 1,600,000 km.
The Hino XL Series adds capability and new advantages to the Hino product portfolio while holding true to the brand's core advantages of industry leading standard features, durability, reliability and ownership experience. "The Hino brand has seen considerable growth in Canada to become a top choice in the Class 4 to 7 segment, moving into Class 8 is not only a logical choice but one that has been requested by customers and dealers over the last 10 years," said Eric Smith, Senior Vice President, Sales and Customer Support.
The Hino XL Series will initially be offered in a variety of 4x2 and 6x4 straight truck configurations in Canada with GVWR ranging from 33,000 to 62,000 pounds. All Hino XL Series will be powered by the Hino A09 engine with up to 360 hp and 1,150 lbs-ft of torque available in 6x4 models. A range of wheelbases will be offered to make this a versatile truck for wide variety of applications in Canada.
HMC plans to launch the straight truck models first and gradually expand the offerings to include tractor models in subsequent model years. The lineup introduces new active safety solutions such as electronic stability control and collision mitigation systems, a first for Hino in North America.
Hino set out to create a vehicle with best in class styling, ergonomics and valued amenities, a tradition carried over from our existing cab-over-engine and medium duty models. "The Hino brand in Canada is known for its exceptional value, reliability and providing a comfortable operating experience," said Mark Lorentz, Vice President, Sales. "The XL Series is instantly recognizable as a Hino with styling that is bolder, stronger and bigger than our existing models. Once you open the door and see the roominess and the automotive grade interior styling and finishes, both drivers and owners are going to love this truck!"
An air ride cab and driver seat, hands free Bluetooth audio/calling, steering wheel controls, LED headlamps, cruise control and air conditioning are just a few of the impressive features that are standard equipment on every 2020 model year Hino XL Series.
Production of the new Hino XL Series will start in early 2019. The new lineup will be assembled in Woodstock, ON at the renovated production facility that HMC has operated since 2006. "HMC is proud to offer trucks for Canadian needs assembled in Canada by Canadians," remarked Ms. Yumiko Kawamura, President of HMC. Full specifications, including pricing and warranty plans will be announced later this year.
