Lindsey Aggregates, based in New York state, is to open its doors this June to showcase its new multi-million-dollar integrated sand washing system, designed and installed by full-service EPC company CDE.
To increase product portfolio and open new business opportunities from its Red School House site, the family-run producer of alluvial sand and gravel, which are marketed across the US, commissioned CDE to install a system that would expand outputs to include C33 spec and mason sand, as well as multiple washed aggregates, helping to extract extra value from the current process.
The new CDE washing plant allows for highly efficient sand recovery, customized integration with the existing crushing plant, and an expanded product portfolio of quality sand and aggregates produced simultaneously and ready for market straight from the belts.
Now fully operational, the plant will be the focus of an upcoming open day demonstration organized in partnership with Lindsey Aggregates and CDE. The event will provide producers, visitors, media and invited guests with a unique opportunity to see first-hand the latest wet processing technologies in action on site.
Custom-built for Lindsey Aggregates, the +500tph plant includes CDE's R2500 scalping system, M4500 and M2500 modular sand & aggregate washing systems. The plant was designed to integrate seamlessly with the producer's current on site operation, but with greater focus on optimizing material recovery and maximizing the value of its resources.
CDE, which has a long history of ground-breaking innovation and holds more patents than any other manufacturer in the wet processing sector, introduced its M2500 to the market more than a decade ago.
Warren Vandish, Owner of Lindsey Aggregates said: "It's an exciting day as we officially launch and open the doors to our new washing plant. Our number one aim is to maximize our current operations, and sand washing will enable us to do this.
"CDE specialize in washing, so when we made the decision to diversify and expand our operations, we wanted to work with the experts. The CDE USA team of expert process engineers invested significant time and energy to understand our operations, materials, challenges and ambitions. Their team have been on hand throughout the design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning process and the regional support team continue to support us with optimizing our operations post commissioning.
"This new plant is a game-changer for our business. It has expanded our product offering and we're very proud to share it with the industry at our joint open day events in June."
Eoin Heron, VP and Business Development Director North America for CDE said: "Together with our customers, CDE is unlocking a New World of Resource and driving alternatives for sand production. Global demand for construction sand is more than 15 billion tons per year. The US is facing increasing demand for infrastructure investment in roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, air travel and broadband. And the industry is gearing up to deliver these civil projects in the face of diminishing natural resources.
"Our sustainable technology, producing washed and graded manufactured sand, is helping supplement natural sand which is a finite resource and increasing in cost. By utilizing normally low-value crusher fines for sand production we can extend the life of natural resources and add huge commercial value to our customers' enterprises. That's exactly what we've done alongside the Lindsey Aggregates team.
"I am delighted to have had the opportunity to work with Warren and his team to create help them expand and create a sustainable business model that adapts as their operations expand and growth."
