(VIDEO) Watch Caterpillar machines bring a classic children’s book to life in the latest Cat Trial video
Contractors work hard on job sites every day. Digging and hauling and dumping; contractors are doing the work and building a brighter future for people around the world. For Cat Trial 13: Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site, Caterpillar has followed five machines hard at work on a construction site. Cat Trial 13 was inspired by the best-selling children's book, Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site by Sherri Duskey Rinker and Tom Lichtenheld. The book tells the story of Crane Truck, Cement Mixer, Dump Truck, Bulldozer, and Excavator as they spend an action-packed day in the dirt.
What happens on job sites when things get shut down and everyone turns in for the night? Cat Trial 13 is bringing that story to life – with special guest appearances from three Cat dealer service trucks.
- Crane Truck is a Cat TL642 telehandler. This machine is engineered to handle lifting tasks, offering stability, maneuverability, speed, and power in several applications. Cat telehandlers offer ideal visibility and lift and reach capability.
- Bulldozer is a Cat D6 track type tractor. Caterpillar has designed and built the integrated engine and power train to work together so operators can work faster on the job site. The D6 is a dozer built to help contractors produce high-quality work in a variety of applications.
- Cement Mixer is powered by a Cat on-highway truck engine. Cat on-highway truck engines are engines that are built to have multiple lives.
- Dump Truck is a Cat 745 articulated truck that features a cab design that was re-engineered based on feedback from operators. Enhancements include new controls, transmission-protection features, a hoist-assist system, advanced automatic traction control system, a stability-assist machine rollover warning system, and a fuel-saving ECO mode.
- Excavator is a 349 hydraulic excavator that brings ideal performance with technologies like Cat GRADE with 2D, Grade Assist, and Payload – all standard from the factory to boost operating efficiency by up to 45 percent.
The video also features three Cat dealer service trucks. These service trucks come alive when all other pieces of equipment are asleep. The services and support they offer can help many projects.
Uptime is critical. Dealer service trucks allow contractors to avoid the time of taking machines in for repairs. These trucks feature the latest technology so Cat dealer technicians will have all the tools they need to get the job done.
Caterpillar aims to be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to machine maintenance. Some of these approaches include:
- Customer Value Agreements (CVA): CVAs are like the security blanket lowered onto Cement Mixer in Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site. The service delivers Caterpillar parts with several service options.
- Parts availability: Getting the parts contractors need, where and when they need them, is critical. Parts can be ordered online at any time of day.
- Preventative maintenance: This is about protecting equipment. That means making sure equipment is serviced correctly and on time. This will mean better availability and lower operating costs.
- Rebuilds: Programs like the Cat Certified Rebuild Program are designed to provide contractors with rebuilt machines that perform, look, and even smell brand new, fulfilling the contractor's need for updated equipment at a lower cost.
Cat Trial 13: Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site celebrates the work equipment does every single day and the commitment Caterpillar dealers make to support contractors – any time of day or night.
