The Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup for 2023 includes improved tow ratings and payload combined with new technology updates that help owners use their pickup truck to be more efficient and productive on the job site and off.
The Super Duty line of F-Series trucks are designed for heavy hauling and towing applications and feature what Ford says are some of the industry's highest ratings for trailering, including a maximum gooseneck towing capacity of 40,000 pounds with the F-450 pickup, which also features a fifth-wheel towing capacity of 35,000 pounds.
Towing aids include the available Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, which steers the truck to align hitch balls with the receiver, and optional Smart Hitch to ensure trailer weight is distributed properly. A 360-degree trailer camera package gives a birds-eye view around the truck and trailer. In the cab, owners can opt for a full-colour heads-up display that offers Trailer Navigation, which makes trailering easier by offering a customized route.
F-Series Super Duty pickups are powered by a range of engines that include a 405-horsepower 6.8-litre V8, a 7.3-litre V8 with 430 hp and 485 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as two Power Stroke diesel V8s - the standard, at 475 hp and 1,050 lb.-ft. of torque, and High Output, generating 500 hp and 1,200 lb.-ft. of torque. All of the engines are paired to a 10-speed transmission, with 4x4 standard on the XLT trim level and above.
When it comes to hauling, the F-Series Super Duty pickups feature a maximum available payload rating of 8,000 pounds. To maximize that payload and keep from overloading, Ford offers available Onboard Scales for the F-Series trucks. Plus, the bed is designed for work, with bed side and rear bumper corner steps available and an available tailgate step. The bed area also features advanced technology like a Tailgate Down Camera and Reverse Park Aid, as well as an optional 2.0-kW Pro Power Onboard system.
A standard FordPass Connect embedded 5G modem gives up to 10 devices Wi-Fi access. Ford Power-Up software updates ensure that the truck stays up to date and improves over time. In addition, Ford Pro Telematics and a new Vehicle Security Package help manage vehicle maintenance and reduce downtime.
