Ram Truck debuted its first electric pickup at the New York International Auto Show and provided a deeper dive into its performance numbers, including the promise of range that can reach 800 km.
The 2025 Ram 1500 REV will feature two all-electric options when it arrives. A standard 168 kWh battery pack offers owners a targeted range of up to 560 km. Those who want more range can step up to a 229 kWh pack that has a targeted range of up to 800 km.
Both batteries will be able to add up to 177 km of range in approximately 10 minutes, using 800-volt DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, offering quick and convenient charge options.
Ram has added a number of charging capabilities to the 1500 REV, including vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-to-grid bi-directional charging. This makes the truck capable of charging another Stellantis battery-electric vehicle or provide power back to the grid, as well as power a home or job site. A onboard power panel in the bed provides up to 7.2 kW, while an available panel in the frunk can provide up to 3.6 kW.
Built on the STLA Frame, a Stellantis-designed shared platform for electric vehicle development, the 1500 REV will feature dual 250-kW electric drive motors (EDMs) that combine the motor, gearbox, and inverter. The 2025 model features on eEDM on the front axle with an automatic wheel-end disconnect that allows the front wheels to spin freely in certain conditions to maximize efficiency. A 250-kW EDM is positioned in the rear axle available with an electronic-locking rear differential.
Performance figures targeted by Ram include a 4.4-second 0-100 km/h time, 654 horsepower and 620 lb.-ft. of torque, up to 6,350 kg (14,000 pounds) of towing, and a max payload of 1,225 kg (2,700 pounds).
The Ram 1500 REV features new design cues outside, including signature "tuning fork" premium LED headlamps, newly designed hood, and a one-touch power operated frunk with 425 litres of space, as well as a power tailgate.
Inside, the truck is the most technologically advanced Ram 1500 ever, featuring a host of features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Uconnect system with 12- or 14.5-inch touchscreen, a new 10.25-inch passenger screen, heads-up display, digital rearview mirror, and more. Information available through the touchscreens includes navigation, entertainment, exterior vehicle cameras, and a range of EV-related details.
Autonomous vehicle capabilities include Hands-free Active Driving Assist and ParkSense Automated Parking System. Active Driving Assist is available for hands-on-wheel/eyes-on-road and hands-free/eyes-on-road automated driving using lane centreing with adaptive cruise control. The system uses multiple sensors, including radars and cameras, to dictate appropriate roads for the technology.
Six trims will be available, including the Canada-exclusive Sport, as well as an all-new Tungsten option.
