The ZX190LC-7 excavator is the newest to Hitachi's line. The excavator offers increased operator comfort and versatility through adaptable machine settings. This 43,652-pound (19,800-kg) excavator offers a 23-foot, two-inch (7.07-m) maximum digging depth and 28,551-pound (127 kN) bucket breakout force.
Patrick Baker, the product manager of medium and large excavators at Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas, says that the ZX190LC-7 fills a need for a Hitachi excavator between the 29,463-pound (17,900-kilogram) and 49,833-pound (22,600-kilogram) range. He continues to say that Hitachi is finalizing the features and abilities of the ZAXIS-7 excavators.
The HIOS IV hydraulic system increases fuel efficiency by minimizing hydraulic loss and increasing performance. The hydraulic system ensures a responsive boom, arm, and bucket with intuitive control. On the ZX190LC-7, the system produces a maximum flow rating of 100 gallons per minute (380 litres per minute). Attachment, arm, and swing priority can be adjusted on the monitor to match the attachment or the operator's preference.
The excavator utilizes a 132 horsepower (98.6 kW) Yanmar engine. The Yanmar power system features economy, power, and high-power modes to best match available power to current job site conditions. An auto idle system with auto shutdown control also prevents wasted fuel.
A design focused on the user
"The HCMA product and engineering team prioritizes listening to customers and finding ways to give them what they need. Customers are demanding a comfortable operator environment that reduces fatigue. The ZAXIS-7 excavators deliver," says Baker.
A larger cab includes a one-touch dual adjustable seat and console. Low-effort pilot controls reduce operator strain and, for convenience, switches have been collectively installed on the right side of the interior with easy access to those frequently used.
The cab features four fluid-filled elastic mounts that reduce vibration when travelling. An eight-inch (20.32-centimetre) anti-glare LCD monitor provides visibility, even in bright surroundings.
The ZX190LC-7 utilizes an Aerial Angle peripheral vision camera system. It provides a wide 270-degree view of the machine's immediate environment. The operator can quickly and easily select the view on the monitor that best suits the situation. A rear-view camera allows the operator to see the area right below the counterweight.
Durability of the ZX190LC-7
Hitachi has increased the durability of the ZX190LC-7 with an undercarriage that has been strengthened with an X beam. An anti-mud-compaction lower roller design helps prevent mud from entering and damaging the oil seals while the upper and lower rollers also feature improved idler sealing.
The ZX190LC-7 features a strong boom design. The bushings are installed in the brackets at the boom end and the boom foot.
Simplified maintenance
Simplified daily maintenance and durability features keep operators up and running. Wide-open engine covers provide access for maintenance, while filters are within easy reach and take just minutes to maintain. Access to the radiator has been improved to make cleaning easier.
A spin-on type fuel filter prevents dust from entering the fuel circuit during maintenance. An inner element of the engine air filter protects the engine from dust ingress while cleaning the outer element. Even the air conditioner is protected with an internal filter with a seal that prevents dust from entering the air conditioner unit.
Tracking maintenance is simplified with the multifunctional monitor. It indicates preset maintenance intervals each time the key is turned on. Engine oil and coolant levels can also be checked from the operator's seat.
Using telematic tools to monitor machine health helps boost uptime through ConSite.
"ConSite OIL actively checks engine and hydraulic oil, along with other parameters, so you can see a problem before it's even a fault code. This increases operator uptime," notes Baker.
ConSite OIL is an optional feature that monitors engine and hydraulic oil conditions to proactively catch issues before any fault codes are triggered in the machine. This helps drive uptime by catching oil degradation before damage to critical systems can occur. This allows operators to focus on the work that needs to be done.
ConSite Air is a new add-on that allows the excavator to be diagnosed remotely. ConSite Air also allows remote updates of the software. No matter where a machine is located, the servicing dealer can remotely diagnose issues.
