VMAC has renewed its Occupational Safety Standard of Excellence (OSSE) Certificate of Recognition (COR) and was awarded the 2023 Safety Pinnacle Sapphire Award for safety excellence. The OSSE certification and award are presented by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of British Columbia, a certified partner of WorkSafe BC.
"VMAC's core values place the safety of our coworkers and products above all else," explains Tod Gilbert, VMAC's president. "We are committed to being a safety leader in the manufacturing sector, focusing on eliminating serious workplace injuries and ensuring our coworkers go home safe every day."
To maintain OSSE's Certificate of Recognition, organizations are audited annually by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of B.C. The audit takes place at VMAC over several days and includes interviews and discussions with coworkers, supervisors, and managers.
"VMAC's continuous improvement culture means we're dedicated to providing resources and prioritizing the health, wellbeing, and safety of all coworkers," notes Arleigh MacNeill, VMAC's safety coordinator. "The Safety Pinnacle Sapphire Award recognizes our coworkers' teamwork, commitment, and innovation towards VMAC's workplace health and safety management systems and programs."
In addition to VMAC's 2023 Safety Pinnacle Sapphire Award and renewal of the OSSE Certificate of Recognition, VMAC recently earned the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems certification and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems recertification.
