DEVELON 6-ton mini excavators expand next-generation lineup with updated design
DEVELON has expanded the next-generation -7 series with a pair of six-ton mini excavators that feature an updated design, standard telematics, plenty of digging and lifting power, and a variety of other improvements compared to previous models.
The DX62R-7 and DX63-7 mini excavators are both 57.5-horsepower machines that weigh in at 13,704 and 13,708 pounds respectively. They feature a maximum digging depth of 12 feet, 5 inches, and maximum loading height of 13 feet, 3 inches.
A reduced tail swing on the DX62R-7 extends just a few inches beyond the width of the excavator tracks, minimizing the chances of encountering objects or buildings when rotating the machine. The DX63-7 is a conventional tail swing excavator. Both are available in standard or optional long arm configurations, for when more reach and dig depth are needed.
The new -7 series mini excavators are designed with a width-protected swing frame that enhances durability. Operators can get closer to their work, including being flush against a structure or wall when offset digging. The excavators' swing casting and cylinders remain within the track width at full left swing, making it less likely that operators will damage these components when working in tight or confined areas. An integrated counterweight improves the machines' lifting capacity and robustness.
Both new machines will auto-downshift when turning, grading, and maneuvering, ensuring they don't bog down, then upshift when the load decreases. A standard auto-idle feature cuts down noise by idling the engine automatically when machine functions are not used for a few seconds. When an operator moves the controls, the excavator automatically returns to the previous throttle setting.
When engaged in more rugged work like demolition that might damage the standard rubber tracks, users can select a steel track undercarriage instead.
Attachment-ready design makes swapping tools easier
The new excavators are well-prepared for attachments. A thumb-ready arm is standard and includes durable integrated mounts that eliminate the need for welding. The new design features quick-coupler hydraulic piping installed to the end of the arm, making it easy to install a quick coupler for fast attachment changes without additional accessories.
The DX62R-7 and DX63-7 feature one-way/two-way hydraulic flow. For improved control, hydraulic flow is activated through the joystick, not the pedal. One-way hydraulic flow only requires hydraulic power in one direction, for attachments like hydraulic breakers and plate compactors. Attachments like thumbs, rippers, and grapples that need bidirectional flow work well with the two-way system.
DEVELON offers attachments like heavy-duty and ditch-cleaning buckets, thumbs, a manual quick-hitch, and hydraulic quick coupler that makes changing other attachments easier.
Operators benefit from standard air conditioning and other comfort features
A standard high-performance heating and air conditioning system is fully integrated in these machines, improving operator comfort throughout the year. Other features also improve comfort and operating efficiency, including thumb switch control of auxiliary hydraulic functions integrated into the right joystick and boom swing controlled by a thumb switch on the left joystick rather than foot pedals. This control style is more comfortable and improves multifunction operation. ISO and BHL control patterns are available depending on operator preference.
A framed, full glass door provides visibility to the area next to the machine, allowing operators a better view in tight spaces. An optional rearview camera adds to that visibility, and high-illumination LED lamps ensure visibility to the work area.
Standard Bluetooth audio makes communication easier for operators. A travel alarm alerts others on the job site when the excavator is at work.
Easier maintenance and monitoring
Serviceability on the two new mini excavators includes easy access to filters and oil service points. A centralized boom swing cylinder greasing makes critical maintenance simpler. A battery disconnect can conveniently disable the connection, protecting battery life during extended storage periods. It can also provide an added measure of security on the job site after working hours.
DEVELON has made its Fleet Management telematics standard on these machines, allowing customers to easily monitor and maintain their equipment. Health, location, and productivity can be monitored from a user-friendly mobile app and website. In addition, the excavators can be tracked by DEVELON's Smart X-Care service, which can monitor in real-time, provide recommendations, and deliver reports as needed.
