Design updates increase operating efficiency and improve mat quality for BOMAG highway-class paver
New front mount screed adds versatility for asphalt contractors
BOMAG has introduced design updates for its CR 1030 T Series 10-foot tracked paver, available for the 2025 paving season, that will improve operating efficiency and increase mat quality by reducing segregation occurrence.
Also new for BOMAG is the Versa 20 front mount screed, which provides additional versatility for paving contractors.
A new human-machine interface (HMI) features grouped functions on the tractor console and a new screed control system with integrated MOBA automation features. On the console, similar functions such as hopper, screed, and feed controls are grouped together to allow the operator quicker identification and adjustment. A large, 7-inch multifunction colour screen display at each console allows the operator to use multiple configurable, detailed screens. By providing both a touchscreen display and a remote dial control option, operators can navigate and adjust settings even in situations where using a touchscreen may be impractical, such as when wearing gloves.
Fault code visibility on the touchscreen monitor alerts operators to paver issues and allows them to promptly identify, understand, and resolve any problems that crop up right at the job site, reducing downtime and improving productivity.
A new addition for the CR 1030 T Series is an independent auger/conveyor system with a proven outboard auger drive system. This allows the conveyors and auger to run independently of each other, with a two- or optional four-sensor control system. The raisable or fixed outboard driven auger system will vastly improve visibility into the conveyor discharge area, as well as eliminate segregation in that area for better mat quality.
Visibility into the 14-ton hopper is enhanced by a sloping hood design. BOMAG-exclusive SIDEVIEW allows each seat and console to swivel outward at four different angles for unobstructed views to the paver sides and the screed end gate.
New screed offers infinitely variable paving widths
The Versa 20 front-mount electric screed, which will be offered on the new series of pavers, offers widths ranging from 10 to 19 feet at paving thicknesses reaching 12 inches. Bolt-on screed left- and right-hand extensions, available in widths of 12, 18, and 24 inches plus optional 12-, 18-, or 24-inch berm screed plates, provide more flexibility, allowing paving up to a maximum of 23 feet. Quick connections for bolt-on extensions provide both heat and vibration for increased mat quality. A 10-foot catwalk and foldable operator walkway extensions are standard.
11-inch-deep hydraulic extensions with manually adjustable angle of attack allow for better density and mat quality than other screeds in the front mount class. The hydraulically powered crown on the Versa 20 can be adjusted from 3 inches positive to 1 inch negative. New screen controls and remotes allow better operator experience and accommodate features like integrated MOBA automation.
Borrowing from European BOMAG screed family design, robust telescopic tubes increase screed rigidity to minimize deflection at extended paving widths. The Versa 20 is designed to maintain setting adjustments between the main frame and extensions for a more consistent mat texture across the entire paving width.
