Fountain Tire has invested in a new location in Fort McKay, Northern Alberta. Designed to meet the needs of the region's oil sands operators and contractors, it's the company's first brick-and-mortar facility dedicated to mine service.

"We're proud to unveil Fountain Tire's mine service location in the heart of Canada's oil sands," says Nelson Tonn, vice president of sales and mine service at Fountain Tire. "Our presence in Fort McKay is an investment in our local customers. A physical location allows Fountain Tire to enhance our service with specialized equipment for off-the-road tires and tire repair, tailored inventory, and faster response times, all of which minimize downtime for our customers."

Fountain Tire Fort McKay offers tire sales, service, and tire repair for a wide range of vehicles and equipment, from light trucks to graders, haul trucks, wheel loaders, and other earthmoving machines. Work is performed on fleets on the job site, in maintenance yards, or at Fountain Tire's facility, ensuring the highest safety standards and maximum convenience.

The launch of Fountain Tire's Fort McKay location follows the acquisition of Saskatoon Wholesale Tire Titan Mining Service Ltd. in late 2023. Daniel Newton, who had been managing the business, was brought on as Fountain Tire's operating manager and partner.

"Daniel brings incredible experience meeting the needs of oil sands operators," adds Tonn. "We're fortunate to have a great new partner who is both a subject-matter expert and longtime area resident."

Fountain Tire has provided off-the-road (OTR) tires to the sector since 2000, from brands including Goodyear, BKT, and TechKing. Its mine service team works closely with operators to identify the optimal tires for each piece of equipment based on the job site, weather conditions, and operation of the machine.

Fountain Tire Fort McKay is located 58 kilometres north of Fort McMurray. It is supported by a mine service team at the company's head office in Edmonton, a national network of 165 commercial stores and nine distribution centres.
