Newly redesigned flail mower attachment from Loftness offers enhanced cutting precision

Loftness has redesigned its flail mower attachment for skid steers and compact track loaders with enhanced features to cut grass, weeds, and brush up to three-quarter-inch in diameter. The attachment offers new knife options and an available floating hitch, plus other improvements for performance and durability.

Engineered to maintain consistent performance in tough conditions, the flail mower is made in the U.S. with premium-strength steel. The newly optimized attachment is compatible with hydraulic systems ranging from 15 to 43.9 GPM at 4,200 PSI with a case drain or 15 to 32.9 GPM at 3,500 PSI without a case drain.

Updated capabilities of the flail mower attachment

The flail mower attachment can be equipped with either duck foot or flail knives to accommodate several uses. Duck foot knives produce a finer cut in easier cutting conditions, whereas flail knives are designed for use in tougher vegetation. Contractors can quickly switch from one style to the other without the use of tools for on-the-go use. 

Also new to the flail mower is a floating hitch that can adjust the cutting height from 1 to 7 inches. This option includes front caster gauge wheels that follow the ground contour to produce an even cut while minimizing the risk of gouging the surface. 

Other standard features include a high-pressure gear-type motor, a three-groove banded belt drive, a full-width roller scraper, and anti-wrap bearing protection. The mower also features extra-large bearings for the rotor and rear roller to help ensure maximum reliability.
