Liebherr to showcase industry-firsts at bauma 2025
Included at the event are a hydrogen-powered working wheel loader and a remote-controlled dozer
Liebherr will showcase its commitment to shaping the future by presenting several autonomous machines, intelligent systems, and zero-emission vehicles at bauma 2025 in Munich. With more than 70 exhibits, the company will have a wide array of installations and hands-on demonstrations.
The first Liebherr hydrogen-powered wheel loader and numerous world exclusives with low-emission drives
The battery-powered and autonomous T 264 mining truck, developed for autonomous mining and zero-emissions, will be available for demonstrations at the event. The mining truck is equipped with the Autonomous Haulage Solution (AHS), an energy management system that coordinates the stationary charging processes that also ensures the charger is fully utilized.
Another example of new drive technologies is the LR 1300.2 SX crawler crane. The 300-tonne crawler crane model is a battery-driven unplugged version that offers zero emissions. The crane is powered by a 438 kW electric motor and its 392-kWh battery can deliver up to 13 hours of operation on a single charge, depending on the application.
A highlight from the field of hydrogen technology is the prototype of a large wheel loader with a hydrogen engine. According to extensive studies on the subject, hydrogen is a highly suitable carbon-neutral alternative for powering large vehicles that are difficult to power with electricity.
New equipment presented at the tradeshow
New earthmoving machines being premiered include the T 38-7s, the new generation of the telescopic handler, which sets a new standard at 4.2 tonnes. Plus, Liebherr marks its entry into the 8-metre class with the new T 48-8s, a strategic addition to its portfolio in the industry.
Visitors at the Liebherr booth can also look forward to seeing world exclusives in mobile and crawler excavators, mobile and crawler cranes, deep foundation machines, and material handling machines.
The new construction series Mobilmix will be shown at Liebherr's outdoor section. The largest model is a 4 m³ twin-shaft mixer. This modular construction system gives contractors more freedom in plant configuration as well as shorter delivery times, faster assembly, and better part availability. Improvements in drive technology cut energy consumption by up to 30 percent and increase weighing accuracy, allowing for savings of up to eight kilograms of cement for every cubic metre of concrete.
Liebherr's new technology presented in the InnovationLab
The central focus of the company's forward-looking technologies can be found in the InnovationLab. Visitors have the chance to try out pioneering technological concepts first-hand, whether on-screen or through interactive installations.
Inside the InnovationLab, Liebherr will showcase the development of object identification by machines fitted with camera systems and sensors. These tools can help improve assistance systems, autonomous machine operations, and predictive maintenance.
"Digitalization is one of the most significant areas of activity of our time. Though it may often seem abstract and technology-oriented, it is in fact always centred around people and real added value. Our goal is to establish practical benefits that extend beyond value chains," says Marcel Flir, head of digital business and strategy at Liebherr.
The benefits of intelligent machine controls, assistance systems, and semi-autonomous processes will benefit customers by reducing the machine's energy consumption and downtime while improving safety and efficiency on the job site.
Smart functions adapted across Liebherr's portfolio
The exhibition gives visitors an opportunity to see the K series fast-erecting tower crane, featuring improved performance levels, modern controls, and a new operating system. The four cranes in the series incorporate new operator-assistance systems and smart functions, such as the swing-free lifting of the load without the use of a diagonal pull, and increased safety for those on the job site.
Liebherr will display seven mobile cranes with new driver-assistance systems, such as the blind spot information system (BSIS) and the moving-off information system (MOIS).
The company will also present a digital solution for the mining industry, IoMine. This system will increase the safety and productivity levels of operations in a mine, reduce machine failure rates through real-time monitoring and, in turn, extend the machine's service life for customers.
A new energy planner will also be presented at the tradeshow. This system is a browser-based software for planning every aspect of a construction site's power and energy requirements. For every construction phase, the innovative tool calculates the energy requirements and charging phases of the specific machines, which can be adapted in the app.
Premiere of autonomous working wheel loader and crawler dozer with teleoperations system
Liebherr will also run a live demonstration of an autonomous working wheel loader. The autonomous operations being presented in the public for the first time will allow a completely driverless operation.
As well, the Liebherr Remote Control System (LiReCon) for crawler dozers will be available for viewing. The new PR 776 G8 70-tonne crawler dozer can be controlled remotely for even more flexibility, rendering inaccessible areas of operation accessible.
Controlling machines with intelligent networking
Liebherr Connect is an intelligent connectivity solution that not only facilitates time and cost savings but also makes machines and systems safer and easier to operate. It provides access to digital solutions and services, as well as extensive machine data and process data. This system connects Liebherr machines with numerous products and applications available in the MyLiebherr customer portal, mobile apps, and cloud applications.
The LTM 1120-4.2 mobile crane with LICCON3 control will be on display at bauma so that contractors can see the standard telematics and fleet management and how the data connects to the customer portal.
