Tadano enters North American boom lift market
The mobile elevating work platform lineup includes wheeled and crawler chassis configurations

Tadano is bringing its technology to the U.S. and Canadian mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) markets with a new lineup of boom lifts. The expansion will introduce a full range of models engineered for superior stability, safety, and efficiency.
The MEWP lineup will include wheeled and crawler chassis configurations. Tadano shared that these machines have been designed to deliver maximum performance in diverse work environments.
Articulated and telescopic crawler series
Tadano's crawler models offer stability while handling challenging terrains, including mud and sand, with a maximum 5-degree tilt capability.
- AS-58CJ: This jibbed version has a 57-ft 9-in (17.6-m) platform height with a 40-ft 2-in (12.2 m) outreach and offers dual platform capacities of 750 lbs (340 kg) / 550 lbs (250 kg). With its steel tracks and grey non-marking pads, it delivers 6.86 psi travel position ground pressure.
- AS-58C: Offering dual lifting capacities of 990 lbs (450 kg) or 550 lbs (250 kg), this model has a 58-ft 1-in (17.7-m) platform height and a 50-ft 6-in (15.4-m) outreach. Featuring steel tracks with grey non-marking pads, it provides 5.8 psi travel position ground pressure, and it is powered by a 32-hp (23.9-kW) Kubota D1803 engine.
- AS-42CJ: Featuring a jib for increased positioning versatility for areas that are challenging to access, this unit offers a maximum platform capacity of 550 lbs (250 kg) and travel ground pressure of 6.77 psi.
- AS-42C: This mid-range telescopic crawler boom with a 41-ft 8-in (12.7-m) platform height and a 36-ft 9-in (11.2 m) outreach features a dual-platform capacity of 990 lbs (450 kg) or 550 lbs (250 kg). It has steel tracks with grey non-marking pads that allow for 6.53 psi travel position ground pressure, and it is powered by a 23.5-hp (17.5-kW) Kubota D1305 engine.
- AS-32C: With a 31-ft 10-in (9.7-m) platform height and a 25-ft 11-in (7.9-m) outreach, this telescopic crawler boom with grey non-marking rubber tracks provides 6.1 psi travel position ground pressure. Powered by a 19.3-hp (14.4-kW) Kubota D1105 engine, the model can handle loads up to 440 lbs (200 kg) in its platform.
- eAA-22C: This compact articulated electric boom lift can operate for up to three days on a single charge based on standard usage with its high-capacity maintenance-free AGM batteries and a 3-phase AC motor. It offers a 22-ft 4-in (6.8-m) platform height, a 14-ft 9-in (4.5-m) maximum outreach, and a 330-lb (150-kg) platform capacity, and it is designed for versatility with 360-degree continuous rotation capability and zero tail swing. With its zero-emission operation and grey non-marking rubber tracks, it delivers extremely low travel position ground pressure at 5.66 psi, making it ideal for sensitive indoor and urban applications.
Telescopic models with wheeled chassis
These boom lifts incorporate the Japanese mindset of quality in design, engineering, and manufacturing, extending abilities to models paired with a base that features foam-filled or solid tires.
- AS-69J: With a 68-ft 7-in (20.9 m) platform height and a 54-ft 10-in (16.7-m) outreach, this high-reach model features a jib for increased flexibility with a design built for heavy-duty work and extended uptime.
- AS-63HD: This machine features a 62-ft 8-in (19.1-m) platform height and a 2,200-lb (1,000-kg) platform capacity, raising the bar on safety and stability for demanding applications. The model combines the outreach of a boom lift with the vertical lifting power of an RT scissor lift and can handle up to 10 occupants in the platform. It features automatic 4-motion control and a 360-degree continuous platform rotation for precision and expansive working range. As well, the automatic 4-motion control allows operators to easily position it in any straight-line direction, and also offers a wide working range with its 360-degree continuous platform rotation, giving occupants superior flexibility to work in overhead areas without moving the chassis. Powered by a 74.3-hp (55.4 kW) Kubota V3800 engine, the 4WD unit with solid tires offers gradeability up to 40 percent with 5-degree tilt control and travel speeds up to 3 mph (4.8 km/h) to traverse job sites.
"Tadano's growth in the Americas has been extraordinary over the last several years, and while our crane market share is very strong, we saw an opportunity to complement that success with additional product lines," says Erik Elzinga, Tadano Americas vice president of AWP business development for Pan-America operations.
"Tadano has a long history of aerial crawler work platform expertise in Japan," Elzinga says. "The opportunity is to take our experience and apply it in the Americas."
