Mack’s TerraPro Cabover model
Mack Trucks’ TerraPro Cabover model is their latest, most advanced offering. An evolution of the company’s popular MR model, the TerraPro Cabover is optimized for demanding refuse and construction applications, including concrete pumping.
In addition, the TerraPro Cabover model offers a smooth quiet ride thanks to the design of its engine mounts, cab bushings and rubber isolators, and electronically controlled fan – all of which minimize noise and vibration on the job.
While delivering exceptional driver comfort, the TerraPro Cabover design also reflects Mack’s overriding focus on maximizing customer productivity and profitability. The vehicle’s low-profile electronic dash enhances visibility while at the same time incorporating comprehensive driver information displays. The instrument cluster features 25 indicator lights and an automatic transmission temperature gauge. Electronic gauges improve accuracy and reliability while eliminating oil lines and most air lines from the gauge cluster. An engine hour meter that features a wake-up display when the ignition is off is included as well. A battery backup protects vital information stored in the engine control systems.
The TerraPro Cabover model features the next generation of Mack’s Vehicle Management and Control System – V-MAC IV – allowing customers to better control costs and closely monitor truck and engine performance. V-MAC IV offers more than 100 proven programmable features, and adds a host of new items, including road speed tamper detection, integrated starter protection and programmable daytime running light override. V-MAC IV electronics include DataMax, advanced software that captures information such as vehicle trip histories, duty cycle information and scheduled maintenance intervals.
Both customers and bodybuilders will appreciate the in-cab Control Link and back-of-cab Body Link II interface systems in the new TerraPro Cabover model. These provide required quick-connections to the bodybuilder’s control unit, as well as pass-through harnesses and connectors from the controller to the body – meeting the needs of any application in the refuse and construction industries.
Offered with the proven Mack camelback suspension, the TerraPro Cabover can also be spec’d with the Mack M-Ride 6-rod suspension, allowing up to 17-inch articulation for maneuverability in landfills and on job sites.
The TerraPro Cabover comes standard with the EPA’07-certified 11-litre Mack MP7 engine, offered in a horsepower range from 325 hp to 405 hp with torque ratings from 1,200 to 1,560 pound-feet. Also available is the EPA’07-certified 13-litre MP8 engine with a range from 415 hp to 485 hp and torque levels from 1,540 – 1,700 pound-feet. Offering superior low-end torque and power, both the Mack MP7 and MP8 feature single overhead cams, electronically controlled ultra-high-pressure fuel injection, one-piece steel pistons, and robust bearings and cylinder heads. “With this vehicle, we’ve taken the heavy-duty cabover truck to a new level,” said Tom Kelly, Mack vice president, marketing. “The introduction of the TerraPro Cabover, together with a soon-to-be-unveiled TerraPro Low Entry model and our recently-introduced new Granite and Pinnacle models, completes a period of product renewal unprecedented in the history of Mack.
