Largest Ditch Witch trencher to date
The Charles Machine Works has introduced its largest trencher to date: the Ditch Witch HT220. Built to provide exceptional digging in both rock and dirt, the HT220 is a hydrostatic trencher with 220 hp (164 kW). Designed for large installations – 12 to 24 inches (305 - 610 mm) wide and four to eight feet (1.2 - 2.4 m) deep – the machine has an exclusive flywheel gearbox that delivers tremendous horsepower to the attachment on demand while protecting the hydraulic system and other components from shock. Operator vibration is further mini-mized by trencher stabilizers, standard on each machine, that isolate vibration when digging in rock. “Working in harsh conditions demands equipment that is extraordinarily durable and sturdy, and the HT220 does not disappoint,” says product manager Brent Bolay. “From its rugged undercarriages to its reliable controls to its forged, heat-treated, high-alloy steel headshafts, everything on this machine is designed to endure the particularly rugged conditions of rock-ladenjobsites. “When you’re moving this much soil, you need to get it out of your way so you can install your product. This machine is designed with an integrated, reversible spoils conveyor which effectively deposits soils on either side of the trench. This machine also has a patented bit block digging system which lets you easily change out one or all of your bits in the field without removing the digging chain."
