UNDERWATER SEDIMENT SAMPLING
Rocky Mountain Soil Sampling offers an innovative and effective solution for collecting core samples in water up to 100 feet deep. The Rossfelder Vibracorer uses Contra-rotating Dual-eccentrics and high-frequency vibrations of 8,000 VPM, to drive three or four-inch diameter core barrels up to 20-feet into the seabed, depending on soil conditions. The unit is maneuvered by a small crane and powered by a waterproof electrical cable. Optimum penetration is best when sampling the unconsolidated sediments of a marine environment, especially silts and clays, although several feet of sand cores can also be obtained.
