The Rental Show is the American Rental Association's annual convention and trade show for the equipment rental industry. It features construction/industrial equipment, general tool/light construction equipment and party/special event equipment. The Rental Show 2018 will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, from February 19 to 21. Check back with Heavy Equipment Guide throughout the week leading up to the show for continuing coverage. The following is a selection of what exhibitors will be highlighting at The Rental Show.
LiuGong will be showing the 385B skid-steer loader which maximizes productivity with features that save operators time and keep them at peak performance longer. With an operating weight of 8,250 pounds and 0.66-cubic-yard bucket capacity, the LiuGong 385B has a mechanical quick coupler compatible with a wide range of attachments that makes switching implements fast and easy.
Ergonomically located controls reduce operator fatigue in the comfortable, operator-friendly cab with easy-to-read electronic displays. Safety is enhanced by ROPS/FOPS protection and high-intensity LED light clusters front and back for maximum worksite visibility.
The loader's 72-hp Yanmar Tier 4 Final engine offers maximum torque with low fuel consumption and high reliability. The standard open-centre hydraulic system provides a flow of 79 L/min.
Options include 120 L/min high-flow hydraulics for more demanding implements, 2-speed operation and a self-levelling valve to provide parallel lift.
DPL Telematics will introduce their AssetView Tracking System at The Rental Show. AssetView is an advanced solution for wireless monitoring and remote tracking of any powered or unpowered asset to improve logistics, manage inventory and curb theft. The small, portable GPS unit is completely self contained and may be hidden on any asset. It can be installed in seconds.
AssetView features:

• Internal battery power. Powered by 3 x AA 1.5V standard Lithium batteries, customer replaceable.
• Long battery life. Self-powered for 3.5 years on daily updates, up to 1 year on more detailed tracking.
• Wireless, two-way communication. Activate recovery mode or set movement alerts over the air from the software or mobile app.
• Little to no sky view required. May be hidden inside or under most assets.
• IP 67 rated and UV stabilized design. For deployment in harsh environments.
• Compact and completely portable. The size of a computer mouse, may be rotated between company assets and hidden easily.
• Dual GPS and GLONASS positioning. Faster, more accurate locations by utilizing twice as many satellites as traditional GPS devices.

Ardco will show their next generation Articulating Multi-Purpose Truck (AMT) featuring a modular back-end platform that offers the flexibility to customize the vehicle to suit any work environment, from urban construction projects to extreme off-road jobsites.
The powerful and rugged AMT is designed to accept a wide array of standard and customizable attachments. Available configurations include a bare chassis, flatbed, water tank, fuel tank, dump bed, service and lube station, and custom solutions. End-users can easily change attachments, while rental companies can serve a variety of customer applications with a single machine.
Multiple tire choices – tractor, construction, terra or sand – help further configure the machine to various work conditions in construction, oil and gas, railroad, utility, forestry and agriculture. The AMT can navigate difficult terrain and work in any environment.
Powered by a 250-horsepower Cummins QSB6.7 Tier 4 Final diesel engine, the AMT 600 model features selectable 4- or 6-wheel-drive and offers a maximum payload of 45,000 pounds. The AMT 400 model has a 200-horsepower Cummins Tier 4 engine, offers 2- or 4-wheel-drive, and provides a max payload of 28,000 pounds for hauling fuel, water, dirt and more. Top travel speed for the AMT 600 is 30 miles per hour, while the AMT 400 can travel up to 25 miles per hour.
Vacuworx will highlight their new wireless remote option for the Vacuworx SL 2 and CM 3 Vacuum Lifting Systems. It offers greater mounting versatility and easy operation. The wireless remote eliminates the need to route hoses and a controller to the cab of the host machine, which in turn provides a greater range of motion for the system and allows easy attachment to equipment other than skid steers, such as backhoes, forklifts and cranes.
With the wireless remote, connecting the unit to the host machine is easy. Simply attach the mounting plate or use the clevis hook connection, then connect the three hydraulic hoses to the host machine. Press any button on the wireless remote to activate the transmitter and receiver on the matched equipment, and the machine is ready to work.
Volvo Construction Equipment will display a wide variety of machines at The Rental Show 2018, including several compact construction and road models – the newly released L25H compact wheel loader, EW60E compact wheeled excavator, SD45B soil compactor, MC110C skid-steer loader and DD15 and DD25B asphalt compactors.
