Volvo adds demolition and wheeled excavators to lifetime warranty program
Volvo CE has extended its Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty to cover high-reach demolition excavators and wheeled excavators. New models covered by the warranty include the EC380EHR and EC480EHR high-reach demolition excavators, as well as the EW180E, EW160E and the EW60E wheeled models. Four additional new wheeled excavator models set to debut in spring 2018 will also be covered by the Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty.
The warranty covers the frame, boom and arm of excavators for the entirety of the initial ownership period. With the extension of coverage, the warranty now covers all Volvo excavators, as well as articulated haulers, asphalt and soil compactors, wheel loaders, skid steer loaders and compact track loaders.
"Thanks to our high standards, Volvo equipment is designed for unsurpassed longevity and durability. We're confident in the quality of our machines and want to pass along that assurance to our customers," said Ray Gallant, vice president, sales support at Volvo Construction Equipment. "That's why we offer the industry's most extensive coverage as standard."
There are many factors that contribute to the longevity of Volvo excavators. The integrity of the equipment's frame and structures is a result of bench durability and ultrasonic testing, booms with large cross sections, strength- and weight-optimized frames, and high-quality swing bearings, which are sealed to prevent contamination and early bearing failure. Furthermore, the frames are made with high tensile steel for long service life and low risk of fatigue.
Extending the coverage of the Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty is one of many ways Volvo works with its customers to maintain high uptime. The recently launched ActiveCare Direct, for example, offers customers 24/7/365 active machine monitoring and monthly fleet utilization reporting. The service is available free for a year on select new machine purchases, including high-reach demolition and wheeled excavators.
