Kubota reinvents popular 8-ton compact excavator with smoother operation and more comfort
The Kubota KX080-5 is an 8-ton compact excavator that has been redesigned with advanced utility, comfort, and performance for use in construction, landscaping, and rental.
Built based on the success of the popular KX080-4, the new unit will lead the KX lineup, with features such as noise reduction, luxury seats, air conditioning, extra legroom, and improved visibility.
"The KX080-5 was redesigned to elevate the operator experience and guarantee maximum comfort while on the jobsite," said Jonathan Gardner, Product Manager, Construction Equipment, Kubota Canada Ltd. "Focusing on what worked for the KX080-4 and building off of it ensured we kept the tried-and-true roots of the machine, but also leveled it up to meet the demands of excavator work and our operators."
Digging depth is more than 15 feet, dumping height 17 feet, and digging radius is 24 feet. Kubota says the new machine will have reduced soil spillage when rotating. Engine RPMs automatically idle when control levers are in neutral for more than 4 seconds, and the engine turns off if idling continues to a specific time that can be set by the user to fit their work needs. The KX080-5 is powered by a trusted Kubota engine equipped with CRS and efficient DPF, reducing maintenance by increasing service intervals for both the regeneration filter and ash cleaner.
The KX080-5 features a two-pump load-sensing system that improves the overall smoothness of operation when using front attachments, letting operators effortlessly perform simultaneous operations. An auto-shift system enables automatic travel shift from high to low depending on traction effort and terrain, giving smoother simultaneous operations when dozing and turning.
Inside the quieter cab, users will find plenty of space, more foot room, an expanded glass area, and double adjustable air suspension seat. A slimmer and more ergonomically positioned right LCD screen is included. An electronically controlled third line hydraulic return can be automatically activated on the digital panel in the cab, eliminating the need for operators to climb down from the cab. Safety features include a factory designed rear-view camera and LED work lights with turnoff delay.
